First time skiing!

Image
On 17th December 2019, I went skiing in a place called Bortelid located in the vest-Agder county, Norway. It was my first time and everything inside me was very excited about what it will be so I had to watch youtube tutorial videos the night before to get an insight into what I'm going to do because I had so so many questions like how will I get up with those shoes on my legs? is there a good way to fall? and so many others. while watching skiing for beginners videos, I saw comments about how people broke their legs and shoulders so you can imagine how scared I was. But when I reached Bortelid all my questions and fears disappeared because it was so beautiful in such a way no amount of pictures could capture its beautifulness. Everything was covered with snow from trees to water bodies.   By the end of the day, I learned a few tricks about skiing and fell so many times that I lost count but it was the best experience because just being surrounded by that stillness of th

Why Norway is a wealthy country?

Image
During the infield, we had a class about ¨why Norway is a wealthy country? ¨ and it was interesting because that’s when you start questioning yourself what the real definition of wealthy and what should a country have to be wealthy. If we look in terms of laughter, bonding and smiles then our home countries are richer than Norway. The lecturer Enlighted us about the reasons why Norway is as it is today with good roads, hospitals, education system, justice system, gender equality, and so many things that the developed countries have. The reasons are;  Geography; strategic position close to Britain. This has helped them in a better way.  From raw material supplier to the production of manufactured goods. Example like making paper from the timber industry. When British started an industrial revolution Norway started too.   Hydro-electric power from the waterfalls from about 1900. Oil and Gas from 1969.   Education, because of education people could speak for themselves in c

Christmas workshop

Image
Yesterday we had a Christmas workshop at Hald international center, it was a cozy event with great Christmas kinds of music. We made different things by using gingerbread. it is my first time here to see people very excited about Christmas by doing different activities to spice up the Christmas mood from the first of December.      So it feels really Christmassy here because I listen to a lot of Christmas songs, watch Christmas movies (if you want a recommendation email me :) I'm here to help you) and wait to celebrate my first white Christmas in this winter wonderland.

Where to find volunteer opportunities

Image
“ Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” ~Elizabeth Andrew You might have thought about volunteering once in your life but before considering applying for any program its good to ask yourself these questions; Why do you want to volunteer? Where do you want to volunteer? Then find a volunteering program that suits your wishes. Why volunteering? There are many reasons I can tell you why volunteering is good for you, to mention a few; 1.       There is a lot to know about volunteering. 2.       A lot to learn through volunteering. 3.       Make new friends and long-lasting connections. 4.       Enrich your curriculum vitae. 5.       You get to have a lot of fun more than you imagined. 6.       Learn new skills 7.       You are doing good for others. Finding a volunteering program that suits what you want to do is your next step, the question that will come after asking yourself the above questions is where can you apply? Don’t wo

The thing I find interesting in Norway

INTERESTING EDUCATION SYSTEM                                                    One thing I find interesting in Norway is a type of school called Folk high school. Folk high school gives people a chance to have a gap year and do various things such as outdoor activities, sports, travel, do music, cosplay, media, and communication. In Norway, there are totally 80 Folk high schools, spread around in different parts of the country. I got a chance to live at Lundheim Folk high school located in the south. At Lundheim this year 75 young people are living together attending the different programs offered at the school.  As days go by, when I look back at what I do on a daily basis, it makes me feel grateful. At the school, I have access to resources and skills that I would normally not have if I was seated in a class only. I see it’s all about getting skills that I can’t get through sitting in class and list
